Dr. Aly Kanani was born and raised in the Lower Mainland Area. He has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Physiology from McGill University and received a Masters of Science (M.Sc) from the London School of Economics in England. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) and also completed his Masters in Education degree (MS.Ed) at the University of Pennsylvania. Furthermore, he has nearly completed his Masters in Public Health degree (M.P.H.) from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kanani graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics (MS.Ortho) and a Specialty Certification in Orthodontics (Cert.Ortho).
Dr. Kanani is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Orthodontics
at the University of British Columbia (U.B.C.) Faculty of Dentistry
where he consults and teaches orthodontics to third and fourth
year dental students. He has also taught in various capacities
at both McGill University and at the University of Detroit
Mercy. His research has been published in the premiere journal
of orthodontics in North America, the American Journal of Orthodontics
and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

He was the recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation Scholarship to conduct oral health research in impoverished New Delhi; the prestigious Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award presented to him by His Royal Highness Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh; and has achieved status as a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a recognition held by fewer than 15% of practicing orthodontists worldwide.

Dr. Paul Pocock
Dr. Paul Pocock graduated from the Royal Dental Hospital in London
U.K. He then worked in several London hospitals, including Great
Ormond Street Children's Hospital, after which he practiced as a
general dentist in England, Australia and the Interior of B.C. In
1987 he entered the Graduate Orthodontic Program at U.W.O in London
Ontario, graduating in 1989.
He has served as the President of the Orthodontic Society of B.C.,
Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC Dental School, and for the last
6 years as a member of the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team at
the Children's Hospital of B.C.
The many organizations he belongs include the Royal College of
Dentists of Canada, the B.C. Society of Orthodontists, the Canadian
Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics,
the American Association of Orthodontics and the American Cleft
Palate Association. Dr.Pocock has been published in the American
Journal of Orthodontics and has lectured locally and internationally.
When not working, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife Sharon
(who works in the N.Van office) and their two teenage children Tristan
(Dirt Biker!), and Sara (Equestrian Princess!!) His favorite hobby
is to get away from it all on his old boat ,"Jackaroo"
.
The Pococks' favorite charity is the Cleft Palate Program at B.C.
Children's Hospital.

to the practice, help explain your orthodontic condition,
and show you the different appliances that we may use. They
will also coordinate your treatment
with your family dentist or other specialist.
