You and the Orthodontists
At the first visit to Dr. Pocock and/or Dr. Kanani your medical and dental history
will be reviewed, a thorough orthodontic examination will be performed
and digital photographs will be taken. Dr. Pocock and/or Dr. Kanani will outline their
initial diagnosis and treatment plan, discuss any concerns or questions
you may have, and give you a fee estimate.
Records
At your second visit, full diagnostic records will be taken including
X-rays, and a set of plaster study cast mounted on an artificial
jaw. This information is used to plan a custom treatment plan for
each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress
of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Consultation
After Dr. Pocock and/or Dr. Kanani has evaluated records we discuss your treatment
with you in detail, including the cost for your particular case.
Regular appointments
The
appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.)
usually takes from one to two hours. You'll then see us at regular
intervals 4 to 8 weeks apart for an adjustment that takes 15 to
30 minutes. Our regular office hours for Surrey are Monday to Thursday
from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and for North Vancouver, Wednesday to Fridays
7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make
every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend
the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please
notify us immediately. Cancel only in an emergency. It is difficult
to reschedule you since most of our appointments are made 4 to 8
weeks in advance
In spite of the fact that a growing number of our patients are
adults, we still have the majority of our clientele being of school
age. In order to be as fair as possible to everyone and to try and
ensure that children miss the least amount of school, we organize
our workdays in the following manner. Adjustment appointments are
usually short and therefore are primarily offered before and after
school, longer appointments (of which there are far less) are arranged
mostly during school hours. Early morning appointment also
work well for working adults.
Fees
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's
problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before
treatment begins. If you have orthodontic insurances, please bring
your insurance information with you and we can advise you maximizing
your orthodontic insurance benefits for yourself or your child.
